    Where is it?

    Wonderwall is a unique three bedroom eco chalet, situated on the Dunes at Upton Towans in Hayle. Tucked into the dune-dotted landscape on the edge of Upton Towans Nature Reserve, The Dunes development incorporates locally sourced materials and innovative architecture to ensure it blends seamlessly with its surrounding environment. It is a gentle ten-minute stroll from Gwithian beach, with its miles of golden sand and expansive horizons. The flat open landscape makes this bay perfect for racing, kite flying and horse riding too – you’ll often see ponies being taken for a canter in the shallows.

    Hayle’s town is home to top notch ice cream and pasty shops for hungry stomachs, while the soft sands of the river’s banks cry out for a paddle as it weaves its way towards the shoreline. Watch the trawlers come and go, take a dip in the calmer waters around the rivermouth (unless the swell is raging), or bump your way across the patterned ‘rills’ left behind in the sand by the receding tide.

    Before long, Gwithian morphs into Godrevy and the iconic lighthouse stands proud on the skyline, rearing up from its rocky outcrop bright white against the sky. Famed for inspiring Virgina Woolf’s novel To the Lighthouse, it’s a feature of the landscape loved by locals, surfers and visitors alike. From here, the rugged coastline sweeps away from the beach and over the National Trust owned headland to the inaccessible Mutton Cove, where a Grey seal colony lives.
    Back in Hayle, the Saltings nature reserve is a prime place for murmurations in the shoulder months and Carbis Bay and St Ives are a short hop away by train. The ultimate scenic route, it clings to the coastline promising photo-worthy vistas galore.

  • The Property
    • A beautifully designed eco chalet sleeping up to seven guests in light filled, glass fronted interiors in a gated private development with parking for two cars.
    • Just a short stroll over the dunes, one of Cornwall's twelve Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, to Gwithian's stunning “three-mile beach” and views of St Ives Bay and Godrevy lighthouse.
    • The detached single-story layout seamlessly harmonises with the surrounding environment.
    • Decadent, rustic mid-century interior design, featuring antique pieces, bursts of colour and exquisite furnishings, add a sense of character throughout.
    • Open plan living, dining and kitchen space, featuring floor to ceiling glass windows and large sliding patio doors to the garden.
    • Room for seven to relax and unwind with a large L shape sofa, Italian velvet armchair and large bean bag, cosy log burner, soft rustic furnishings such as faux fur throws, a brass, glass topped coffee table and 50 inch TV.
    • Style and charm are added through a wrought iron French drinks trolley and a bleached oak chest of drawers on which the TV sits.
    • Dining space with a French solid oak dining table, seven wishbone style chairs, stylish armoire and a bamboo tree floor lamp.
    • Kitchen space features a breakfast bar with four French Riviera bamboo and leather bar stools, and reclaimed oak shelving, locally handcrafted from planks of Cornish yew.
    • Surrounding the breakfast bar are brass pendant lamps and a brass wave lamp, which harmonise with the rich green hues of the artwork and décor.
    • Kitchen is also fully equipped with all the necessary appliances for cooking up a storm, with an electric fan assisted oven, induction hob, fridge freezer, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, toaster, dishwasher, microwave and large wine fridge. Also features a washing machine, tumble dryer, iron and ironing board.
    • High-speed fibre optic broadband throughout, perfect for guests needing to working from the house.
    • Three standalone fans, stored in the shed.
    • Cot and highchair available.
    • Underfloor heating throughout.

    Sleeping:

    • Master bedroom features a solid weathered oak king size bed with rattan headboard, French freestanding mirrored armoire and mirrored chest of drawers, two bedside tables with brass peacock lamps.
    • The room is tastefully styled with a Venetian mirror, gilt frame original painting and brass bonsai tree wall sculpture, making it the perfect space to relax after a day spent on the sand.
    • Master ensuite features a walk-in rainfall shower with handmade Mexican emerald green gloss tiles, brass finish taps, basin set on locally made bespoke Cornish Yew pedestal, heated towel rail, WC, shaver point and mirror.
    • Second bedroom with garden views, king size French four poster bed, mirrored French armoire with separate chest of drawers, bamboo marble topped pedestal tables with lamps, framed artwork and a brass Italian shield mirror.
    • Third bedroom with a chalet bunk bed offering a double bed on the bottom and single on the top with Indian chest of drawers, maritime styled table lighting, freestanding mirrored wardrobe, two bedside tables, wicker occasional chair and views of the garden. Please note this room is suitable for a maximum of two adults but can accommodate up to three if children are included.
    • Family bathroom features a bath with shower screen and rainfall shower overhead, heated towel rail, WC, basin and shaver point.

    Outside:

    • A large, secluded garden with lawn and raised border featuring wild grasses and palms, which backs onto the dunes.
    • Cornish granite patio area features a large handmade bespoke outdoor dining table with eight chairs with a large umbrella for those hot summer days. Also features a Weber charcoal barbecue, large clay Mexican Chimnea and Ooni Karu pizza oven, stored in the lockable shed.
    • Six sun loungers.
    • Up-lighting at the back of the garden creates an atmospheric space to look out to in the evening during the summer and winter months.
