A week at The Croft

Aerial view of The Croft at Coverack

Discover The Croft, part of our Iconic Set. Perched on the rugged Cornish shoreline in the fishing village of Coverack, The Croft is designed for slow, sumptuous coastal living. Sleeping eight and welcoming one dog, this retreat blends period elegance with modern comforts, with every space centred around the ocean views.

Wake to the sound of the waves in one of the dreamy sea view bedrooms. Take the private footpath from the garden to the sand-and-pebble beach below, or savour every moment lounging on the French Riviera style stone balustrade terrace, soaking up the glittering sea views.

With a landscaped garden leading down to the shore, to luxury details such as an electric Aga and a Big Green Egg barbecue, The Croft is a retreat where you can slow down, reconnect, and feel at home on the Cornish coastline.

Here’s how to make the most of your seven-day stay at The Croft.

Day 1

Arrive and relax

Step into The Croft and instantly feel calm. From the oak staircase and wood parquet floors to the airy conservatory with its reclaimed marble floor, every detail feels elegant.

Start your holiday with ease by using your £100 Cornish Food Box voucher to pre-order a hamper of fresh local produce. This will be waiting for you on arrival, so after unpacking, take your pick of the outdoor spaces to relax and graze – perhaps the lower garden with its swinging egg chair or the stone terrace with its comfy seating.

Day 2

Explore Coverack

Spend the day exploring the village of Coverack, just a short walk away. Wander past tiny cottages and tuck into a pasty by the harbour.

If the conditions are calm, which they often are on this stretch of coast, hire a kayak or paddleboard from Coverack Windsurfing Centre and drift past rocky inlets that line the coast.

Day 3

Cook up

Make the most of the retreat’s very own Big Green Egg barbecue. Purchase today’s catch from local fishermen with Coverack Fish and Shellfish, and get creative with the many ways of cooking on the Egg.

For inspiration, see how chef Gill Meller used The Croft’s Big Green Egg during his al-fresco cookout

The terrace, with its stone pillars and elegant balustrade, makes for the perfect spot for a meal. Dish up and tuck in amongst the salty sea air.

Day 4

Spa day

Dedicate today to relaxation at The Croft. Begin with a yoga session in the garden, allowing the sound of the waves to guide your practice. Follow this with a soak in the freestanding bath or lounge in the garden hot tub. Immerse yourself in a good book, connect to the Sonos speakers and put on a playlist, and savour the serenity of being so close to the shore.

Day 5

Coast Path

Make the most of the South West Coast Path, which runs through Coverack. Walk to Chynhalls Point for breathtaking views, or take a longer hike toward the secluded coves of Cadgwith passing beaches such as Kennack Sands.

Day 6

The Lizard Peninsula

Head a little further afield towards the dramatic landscapes of the Lizard Peninsula. Start at Kynance Cove, renowned for its turquoise waters and serpentine rock formations. Then, head to Lizard Point, the southernmost tip of mainland Britain, admiring the vibrant sea thrift, heather and lichen that contrasts to the striking blue sea.

Day 7

Savour

Spend the day enjoying the landscaped garden, soaking up the last rays of sunlight on the loungers or reading in one of the shaded spots beneath the trees. Wander barefoot for a paddle in the crystal-clear water.

As the sun sets, gather in the dining area for one final home-cooked meal or enjoy a glass of wine by the log burner in the living room, with the patio doors open to the garden terrace. Say your goodbyes and plan your next trip to The Croft or one of our other iconic retreats.
