We caught up with our guest Kat, who recently spent the weekend in Porth Beach House with her extended family. Sleeping 10 directly overlooking the sand, this retreat is a dream for families seeking out fun and relaxation, with so much to do in the local area.

Recently interior designed by Dynargh Design’s Matt Hulme, Porth Beach House blends Malibu beach house chic with a calming coastal style, making it the perfect coastal pad for relaxing after a long clifftop walk.
Here’s what Kat and her family got up to during their stay….
It was super being able to get in on Friday afternoon. Filling the fridge and picking a bedroom before the rest of the family got there. My daughter Lottie loved having bunk beds.
We then took the dog to the beach which is just so convenient. We live near the coast but the proximity from Porth Beach House to Porth beach is just amazing! We did some sea glass searching and called into The Mermaid Inn for a pint by the fire….bliss.
Back to the house to welcome the rest of the family. We then sat and chilled in the beautiful living space, with views of the beach. Caught up and wave watched through the binoculars…. a firm favourite activity for the kids and something we enjoyed all weekend.
We ordered an Indian take away to finish off the night and had some quality family time.
Saturday was greeted with a slow start and a hearty breakfast, followed by a big walk with the dogs over to Watergate Bay. We called into The Beach Hut for its famous hot chocolate and some chips, browsed in the shop on the beach and then walked back.
For a kid-friendly activity, we booked bowling at Porth Lodge. It is a little dated and not without quirks but we had a good laugh as it got quite competitive. We walked back, all of 2 minutes, to the house and had some easy pizza tea. The night was filled with family games (Grandad bought his Bingo machine) and a birthday celebration.
Sunday was enjoyed with a morning jog over to Watergate Bay. For lunch we called into The Merrymoor Inn at Mawgan Porth for its famous carvery, which was outstanding!

All in all we had the best quick weekend away. We all felt quite sad leaving as the house was so comfortable, cosy and homely. It was warm and the décor is just so nice, we all said we could move in straight away never to turn back to our houses again!
