We work with locally-based food, interiors and lifestyle photographer Frankie Thomas all around Cornwall. We asked her, what makes Gyllyngvase Beach, on Cornwall’s south coast, so special
Gyllyngvase is a social beach. It’s somewhere families, university students, sports groups and friends gather.
There’s always something going on – whether it’s beach volleyball matches, water sports activities or beautiful dinners up on Gylly Beach Café.
I spend a lot of time here with my mum and sister. My sister loves to swim at Gylly, meanwhile my mum and I will enjoy the view from the sand or café.
Despite all of this activity, it’s still a beautiful, calm and clean space. Lots of beach cleans take place here.
My ideal day at Gylly would start at Swanpool, a neighbouring beach. From there, I’d walk over to Gylly for a paddleboard session or kayak back towards Swanpool using a kayak rented from Blü Paddle. We’d follow that with lunch at Gylly Beach Café or one of the new food stalls parked up on the hill.
There’s always interesting things to see when you paddle out at Gyllyngvase: there’s often military ships, cruise ships or unique sailing boats floating by or weighing anchor in the bay.
Paddle a little further on the paddleboard or in a kayak and there’s lots of local secret coves to discover.
