15 years ago, Watergate Bay Hotel’s Will and Pix Ashworth set up Beach Retreats with a simple premise in mind. Self-catering holidays always within walking distance of a good beach. Back then, we were a small collection of modern lets in and around the Bay. Today, hundreds of likeminded owners make up our portfolio of select beach retreats across Cornwall – each with impeccable standards, a contemporary feel and a coastal story to tell.

The brand insight and lifestyle expertise that mean our owners see the returns they deserve. Our close relationship with our parent brand manifests in the principles that guide us and the belief we all work towards – that true beach freedom comes when proximity, personality and hotel-standards of cleanliness and service meet.
As part of the Watergate Bay family, we share pride in our successes, whether it’s accolades and awards from the likes of The Times, Telegraph, Top Hotels and Boutique Hotelier for Watergate Bay Hotel, or building loyal fans and followings for natural bath and body brand land&water. Away from the Bay, the launch of the award-winning Another Place: The Lake in 2017 further added to the insights and expertise we can learn from.
We regularly connect and share best practice, continuing to look for opportunities to help each other improve and innovate. At the heart of it all is a beating belief that we need to be an active and engaged part of our community and commit to making a positive impact for people and planet. It’s a principle that sees the whole family driving to B Corp accreditation in 2023 and that steers our decisions and growth.
Another thing to know about our family is that we never sit still. Ambition runs deep here, with the desire to constantly seek out and offer better for our guests its driving momentum. From development plans in the Bay itself, as well as projects set to shake up what’s possible in coastal lifestyle self-catering, to new hotels that promise a taste of what we do a little further afield the Watergate Bay Hotel family is one of opportunity and optimism. And that’s really taking us places.
