The Details

  • Location

    Where Is It?

Perched on Tregonhawke Cliff, high above the beach and sea below, Brackenbank is a chic chalet made for romantic escapes and family holidays. With dramatic views of the expansive ocean and a unique position tucked into the cliffside, this retreat is not simply a holiday home but an experience to be had. It was recently featured in The Guardian's 30 UK Holiday Cottages to book for 2021.

Whitsand Bay is a wide, dramatic arc of coast, with a long sandy beach dotted with craggy rocks and backed by high cliffs. Located on the Rame Peninsula, this beautiful stretch of Cornish coast is bound by the Lynher and Tamar rivers, the Hamoaze and the sea. Known as Cornwall's 'Forgotten Corner', the area is designated as one of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

The dramatic cliffside position will give the illusion that there is nothing around you but ocean, yet there is plenty to see and do nearby. Explore the winding clifftop paths, stroll to a nearby cafe for lunch and relax with ever changing sea views. Close by are the pretty coastal villages of Kingsand and Cawsand, from which a ferry will take you across to the bustling city of Plymouth with its scenic port and array of eateries.

Guest Reviews

"We enjoyed our stay very much. The chalet was well equipped, clean and very comfortable. The large windows and doors are a "must" to have in this location, as the view is wonderful. (Always changing, with the weather). There were lots of walks available, and many places to visit, within a mile or two of the chalet."

"What an amazing view!! It certainly made up for the walk down to Brackenbank with our luggage and the other bits we had. We absolutely loved the quietness and seclusion with just the sound of the birds and the sea. "

"We've stayed in this property before, and love it every time. You can just draw back the curtains and see the sea! It's great for a beach holiday, but also as a base for exploring the Rame peninsula."
Shortall, September 2022
"The property was beautiful and the location was spectacular. I was particularly surprised with the amount of items that were already there for us to use, in previous holidays such as this you need to take many items but everything from washing up liquid, tea-towels, tea, coffee, condiments was all there! The facilities were amazing such as the coffee machine and the outside shower which, if had been summer, would have been a very welcome addition as it could be heated where so many are just cold water! The lovely fresh flowers were also a very thoughtful touch. It all made an already wonderful holiday truly amazing and believe me I'll be recommending Brackenbank and will be back!"
Roberts, February 2022
"Our stay was truly wonderful, the property was so beautiful, the owner has thought of everything to put in here to enjoy your stay. The views were absolutely stunning, never got fed up looking at them, I would truly recommend staying here. I would also like to say that Beach Retreats customer service and help have been the best, definitely book through them again."
Lewis, February 2022
"The views are what we came to see and of course didn't disappoint. The cottage is lovely and worked really well for 3 adults and one dog. Well stocked provisions, coffee maker and grinder excellent and parking wasn't a hardship at all. Decks and outdoor space ideal with quality loungers and cushions. Nice eating area as well although the canopy did fill with rain but hey, that's Cornwall! "
B Hindle, June 2021
"The chalet is beautiful and the views were exceptional. We would be happy to stay there again. I was glued to my binoculars! It was interesting being there during Storm Francis!"
K Ward, August 2020
"Really well equipped property in great condition with fabulous views from the house and adjoining bbq area. It's a simple holiday in all the right ways, providing a real recharge to the battery and quality time with kids."
